This was Little Sis’s Jazz 1 dance number for her dance studio’s Christmas recital: “What Christmas Means to Me.” There are times where it seems that no one quite knows what they’re supposed to be doing.
Enjoy our trip to the “suburbs” in Stanley, Idaho for the Baldwin Family 2011 Reunion. The sped up video, lens flare, and stills all convey my memories of this event. Enjoy.
Little Sis participated in her elementary school’s yearly dance festival. She, along with the rest of the First Graders, did The Twist. I think Sis did the same dance to the same song when she was a First Grader.
Don’t you love how people walk in front of a line of other people already taking video and photos without looking behind themselves to see if they’re in other people’s way? This happens every year at the dance festival: someone walking, standing or running in front of other people. Because, yes, their children are the most special and need to have the best footage.
Little Sis was a Gummi Bear in her dance studio’s performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was part of Scene 7: The Chocolate Factory.
Little Sis and friend, Megan, participated in an Up With Kids theater performance this spring. The production was The Wizard of OZ. But it wasn’t just the Wizard of OZ. It was a conglomeration of various movies and plays. It was a little crazy. The play went on and on and on, but I just added the parts, or most of the parts, that Little Sis and Megan were in. It’s a little long, 12 minutes. But cheer up; I could have filmed and included the “entire” production.
I think that my definition of “Clean Your Room” and Little Sis’ definition of “Clean Your Room” are a little different. Note below. Little Sis also has a knack for displaying her items. She should remember this talent for her future career decisions.
Little Sis was a butterfly in this year’s Nutcracker performance at her dance studio. Her two friends, Annie and Megan, have joined her in Dance this year. In the performance, Annie is 5th from the left, Little Sis is 7th from the left, and Miss Megan is 3rd from the right. She’s the one who misses the handclasp. Funny girl.
Little Sis shared a birthday party with her buddy, Porter. They invited a whole slew of kids and enjoyed a water slide, Slip N Slide, bubbles, the trampoline, and the play set. There were also cupcakes and snacks galore. The highlight of the party was by far the Candy Cannon. Fun was had by all.

As a child, when I was first learning to write, I would write my name backwards; hence my nickname, for those who know it. Tonight we saw that Little Sis had written her name in ink on her leg–backwards, just like I used to write my name. Not only is her name close to mine, including the spelling, but she writes it out in the same way. No wonder I named her what I did. I already have an idea for a nickname.
There are some strong genes in this family!

Compliments of our resident hairdresser, Sis, shown below with her sassy friend, Sabina.

At the request of Sis, enjoy the picture above…
Daddy had to go to the bank today. Little Sis was begging for breakfast at “Old McDonalds,” which didn’t interest me. We had to find a compromise. That’s when I saw the “Hot Dougnuts” sign. We ended up watching donut making and glazing followed by chocolate milk and a red, white, and blue sprinkles-covered donut.
The nice thing about doing the video for the dance recital is that you have all of the footage. So now that the video is finished and ready for distribution, I can take some time to put up Little Sis’s number. The dance recital’s theme was High School Musical and Little Sis’s class did their dance to HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA’A. As you can see Little Sis was more interested in what her friend, Magan, was doing than in following the teacher’s actions. Little Sis is the third from the left.
Yes, it’s true. Children graduate from school every year now. Even though Little Sis will still attend preschool next year, she graduated from preschool this year. I guess that she is graduating from two-day preschool to three-day preschool. She had a preschool graduation last year too. That was from one-day-a-week preschool. We are going to have a lot of diplomas and caps by the time Little Sis graduates from college. Whew!
I took Little Sis and Sis to the city Easter Egg Hunt. It was supposed to start at 11:00 a.m. We arrived at about 10:50, and took our place in a section with around 50 children waiting for the signal. This was just one area, by the way. There were many others with just as many children. Some of the older children (who I’m sure were older than age 10, the limit) started rushing a few minutes after we arrived. This caused everyone else in the park to rush. If you didn’t rush, you missed out. So we rushed too.
It was a frenzy! If you were just showing up, you had no chance to get even one egg. After it was all over, I was talking with some friends and looked at my watch. It was 11:03. The hunt was supposed to start at 11:00 and we were done by 11:03. Crazy. The parent comments around me as we traversed the park were pretty funny. Needless to say, I think that there were a lot of “private” Easter Egg Hunts afterwards. But what do you expect in a city whose median age was 18 in the 2000 census…I can’t imagine what it is today.
Sis sacrificed her reputation to do a dance number with Little Sis at this year’s Primary in Excellence. They performed the Wiggerly Woo. Little Sis wouldn’t practice days before the event, so I was worried that she wouldn’t participate. But she didn’t seem to mind performing in front of a large group. Little Sis did a great job.
Sis was then put upon one more time when she “had” to sing a number with the Activity Day Girls. The things we have to put up with in this life! Honestly!
