We taught our Sunday School class this week. One of the lessons discusses Doctrine & Covenants 133, so I decided that I would tackle that section. We teach teenagers who have a difficult time participating. One student does participate, but he’s not our only student. We all can’t listen to him for the entire hour. There is always one of those students in a class, right? I decided that since we torment the students every class with discussion, which really just turns out to be lecture, I would give them a break. So I created a video about the mid-section of D&C 133, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. I used AI throughout. As I always do, I had ChatGPT write the prompts to use in Midjourney, and then I animated the images in Midjourney. I also had Midjourney animate some LDS media with GPT’s prompt help. I did try ever so carefully to be respectful with images where Jesus Christ is the subject. I know that Church leaders are concerned about how we use AI when creating media for church lessons and presentations. There are probably some questionable media in my video. If so, my apologies. It is not the simplest task creating religious images and video with AI. AI has improved by leaps and bounds, but it still struggles with religious content. When asking ChatGPT to write the prompts I tried to use layman terms to get the most relevant images. Now whether my interpretation is correct is another topic for discussion.
